A Closer Look: 2nd Big Chop

26 Nov

Just wanted to come and give a closer look on my big chop. Please tell me what you think=)

Don’t Stop, Big Chop: Courtney

26 Nov

Why did you bigchop?

I big chopped for numerous reasons, If you go back to my 2 year natural anniversary you can read why here. Another reason that I didn’t talk about is because I wanted to do something different to my hair. I was always trying new things with my hair. I’ve had long hair, short hair, red hair and orange hair ( sounds like a Dr. Seuss book lol) and the only thing that was left was natural hair. When my hair was straight I also loved to wear rod sets and pin curls and figured why not go for a more permanent look.

When did you big chop?

The first time I big chopped was on August 6, 2010 and the second time was October 23rd,2010.

What made you big chop again?

I big chopped for the 2nd time because I wanted to see my hair in a new style. When I big chopped for the first time it was just to get the relaxer out of my hair but for the 2nd time I wanted to play around with some new styles since I know how to take care of my natural hair and know what it needs to flourish. I also had suffered from some heat damage. It wasn’t noticeable but I knew it was there and that bothered me.

How did you feel? What was your reaction?

I felt great. I love my big chop way more the 2nd time around since it was in a style.

What are you doing to take care of your hair?

I co-wash my hair once a week with Tresemme Naturals moisturizing conditioner. Then I apply JBCO to my hair and seal with Giovonni’s weightless moisture leave in. I only wash my hair with shampoo once a month.

Do your regret your decision?

Not at all. I know it is hair and will grow all back.

What words of encouragement would you give someone contemplating the big chop?

Just do it. You will never know how you look with something until you try it.

 Introduce yourself !
Hello, I am Tabitha Robinson.
How long have you been natural?
I have been natural for about two years.
Did you transition or big chop?
I transition for 7 months and then I did a big chop.
Whats is your regimen?
I don’t have a daily regimen. I basically just know that every two weeks my hair needs to be washed. However, I do deep condition everytime I wash and I mostly mix and match products, just so that I can see the results.
Did going natural change your personal style?
Being natural hasn’t really changed my personal style. It actually help me bring out the person that I wanted to be for so long. Going natural actually set me free.
If your hair could talk what would it say?
That’s a good question. My hair would probably say I am in dire need of styling!!! Only because I take care of my hair but I am not the best styler.
Do you consider yourself a Knotty Girl? and why?
Of Course I do. My hair tells it all.
What do you love most about your good head?(Hair Everyone Adores & Desires)
I love that my hair is very versatile. I can literally wear it anyway I want too.

Ipsy Bag Series: November Bag

21 Nov

So yes I’ve been suckered into one of these monthly subscription services but I felt this one was worth it. I decided to go with a beauty subscription versus a hair product subscription because I really want to build up my makeup collection, I already have so many hair products and for only 10 dollars a month, I said why not!

November was my first month and the service was great. Prior to me confirming my purchase, I was prompted to take a quiz based on my skin type and tone,  what type of products did I use and my favorite brands. The money was taken out of my account on the first of the month and I received the bag on the 11th, which was awesome because they said it wouldn’t be shipped until the 11th!

The bag came in the super cute metallic pink envelope and was all about party glam so I received some super cool goodies.

(Pink envelop it was mailed in and the bag itself)

Items from left to right(1. Starlet Cosmetics eye pencil 2. Bare Minerals Moxie lipgloss in Dare Devil 3. Meet Matt(e) matte eyeshadow by The Balm 4. Nailtini Nail Lacquer 5.Chella eyebrow defining gel)

  1. Starlet Cosmetics eye pencil- retail value $11.00
  2. Bare Minerals Moxie lipgloss- retail value $18.00
  3. Meet Matt(e) eyeshadow by The Balm- I couldn’t find the retail value of one but they have a palette of 9 eyeshadows that has a price of $34.50
  4. Nailtini Nail Lacquer- retail value $13.00
  5. Chella eyebrow defining gel – retail value $18.00

Without the price of The Balm eyeshadow the bag valued at $60.00 and for only spending $10 you really can not beat that.

Inside the bag, there was also a coupon for JusFab shoes and coupons for each of the items incase you wanted to purchase them separately.

Ipsy has definitely won me over and I can’t wait to receive my December bag.
