Healthy Habits for Healthy Hair

11 Dec

I just wanted to go over some healthy habits that are sure to help your hair FLOURISH. If we don’t know by now being healthy starts from the inside. You can’t only take care of your outside. What is inside counts the most.

Drink Water- Yes drink plenty of water. I want you to drink so much water you think you are turning into a fish. lol but really our body is composed¬†primarily of water and we know water is natural hair’s number one moisturizer.

Exercise- Yes ladies we gotta do it. We can’t expect this great head of hair when our body isn’t great and no I don’t mean be an olympic class athlete, just some moderate exercising will do. Exercising is great for out overall health but it will also improve the quality, texture and growth of the hair. Regular exercise gets the blood flowing throughout the body, including the scalp, which in return will help your hair reach its fullest potential Continue reading

Ipsy Bag Series: December

11 Dec

Okayyy ladies you know what time it is! Ipsy Bag time!. I was so excited when I saw that metallic pink envelope in the mail because like always Ipsy is right on time. I just received an email from the company stating the my bag was on the way and in the same day it was here. =D. So lets get into it. The theme for this months bag is Holiday Haute and I can definitely see why. I got some awesome goodies.

So you know it comes in these adorable little bags and that is the one I received for this month. Super cute. Now lets get into these itemss

Urban Decay Glide-On Eye Pencil- (Retail Price-$19.00) Okay so of course I’m excited to see something from urban decay, this is one of my favorite lines. The color I got is Zero.

NYX Ultra Pearl Mania-(Retail Price-$2.99) Mine came in the shade Walnut Pearl. Once again loving this product. Nyx delivers quality products at super affordable prices. I can’t wait to use this loose pigment.

Be A Bombshell Lip Gloss- (Retail Price- $14.00)- The color I got was Hot Mess, because that’s what I am..haha just playing. I’ve never used anything from this company but I just got a matte red lipstick and I know this will look great over it.

Mirabella for Face and Eyes Primer- (Retail Price- $29.00) WOW! My expensive product yet. That is awesome and they know we need to protect our skin underneath our makeup especially in the winter time. I’m impressed.

Mai Couture St. Barts Highlighter Paper- (Retail Price- $28.00) Okay so when I googled this product, the first place I saw it was sold at was Neiman Marcus, lol So you already know. I’ve been trying to highlight my face for a while now so this came just in time.

So this bag retailed at about $92 dollars. Wow. All for $10. They definitely spoiled us for Christmas. I’m a fan once again.

Be on the look out for the video=D

Ipsy Bag Series: November Bag

21 Nov

So yes I’ve been suckered into one of these monthly subscription services but I felt this one was worth it. I decided to go with a beauty subscription versus a hair product subscription because I really want to build up my makeup collection, I already have so many hair products and for only 10 dollars a month, I said why not!

November was my first month and the service was great. Prior to me confirming my purchase, I was prompted to take a quiz based on my skin type and tone, ¬†what type of products did I use and my favorite brands. The money was taken out of my account on the first of the month and I received the bag on the 11th, which was awesome because they said it wouldn’t be shipped until the 11th!

The bag came in the super cute metallic pink envelope and was all about party glam so I received some super cool goodies.

(Pink envelop it was mailed in and the bag itself)

Items from left to right(1. Starlet Cosmetics eye pencil 2. Bare Minerals Moxie lipgloss in Dare Devil 3. Meet Matt(e) matte eyeshadow by The Balm 4. Nailtini Nail Lacquer 5.Chella eyebrow defining gel)

  1. Starlet Cosmetics eye pencil- retail value $11.00
  2. Bare Minerals Moxie lipgloss- retail value $18.00
  3. Meet Matt(e) eyeshadow by The Balm- I couldn’t find the retail value of one but they have a palette of 9 eyeshadows that has a price of $34.50
  4. Nailtini Nail Lacquer- retail value $13.00
  5. Chella eyebrow defining gel – retail value $18.00

Without the price of The Balm eyeshadow the bag valued at $60.00 and for only spending $10 you really can not beat that.

Inside the bag, there was also a coupon for JusFab shoes and coupons for each of the items incase you wanted to purchase them separately.

Ipsy has definitely won me over and I can’t wait to receive my December bag.

Ready, Set, Go!!

Don’t Stop, Big Chop: Jasmine

27 Oct

Why did you bigchop?  I will say that I was influenced by the amazing women around me. I wanted strong, healthy hair, and going natural was the only way that I could achieve this goal. I began transitioning in February 2012 because I had decided it was time to stop talking and begin my journey to being natural. I watched my my mother battle with cancer for three years, and during that time she lost all of her hair, and she struggled with finding beauty in her new all salt and pepper TWA. She loved a head scarf or a funky jet black wig with bangs because that it is the hair style she wore for many years. I let my mother know everyday that she was beautiful not matter how her hair was because that naturally coily salt and pepper fro on her crown was beautiful and accented her beautiful face flawlessly. On May 15, 2012 my mother lost her battle with cervical and my entire life was flipped upside down. After losing my mother, I felt it was time for a change physically and mentally. I decided to dedicate my big chop in remembrance of my mother, Diane C. Booth. My big chop marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life as a stronger, healthier, and natural woman.

When did you big chop? August 22, 2012   Continue reading
