How to find the right hair product

18 Nov

Having trouble finding the perfect product for your hair? Here are a couple tips to keep in mind next time you shop the aisle!!!

Study your hair– Take the time to evaluate your hair. Notice the texture, thickness and porosity. Someone who has dry hair, for example, will need something different from someone who has oily or frizzy hair. Analyze your hair to determine which products will work best for you. Not all hair products are created equal!!

Pay attention to ingredients– The right ingredients are essential for healthy hair. Usually the first 3-5 ingredients listed are the main elements in the product. If you have found that in the past your hair has rejected those ingredients. Stay away from those ingredients and find hair care products that work for your specific hair needs. Continue reading

Just because you have natural hair doesn’t mean you can’t freshen up your look. The same twist outs and wash n go’s can get boring after a while. Here are a few ways you can switch up your look with your natural hair.

Cut. Yeah I said it. Every one with natural hair is not focused on hair length nor did they go natural to see how long their hair would grow. They are simply tired of relaxing their hair.

  • TWA-Try a funky tapered TWA like I did.

Different races liking your natural hair more than your own

31 Oct

Am I the only one that feels like other races seem to be more attracted to my natural hair then my own? Sometimes, I feel like the only people of my race that like my hair are other naturals themselves. When other races approach me they are almost amazed that my hair can stand straight up one day and be perfectly curly the next. The only response I get from other black women are “Oh, that’s different” or “I could never go natural”. It’s not like I’m fishing for compliments either. I just  never hear from other black women that my hair looks nice until my hair got to a pretty decent length. Thats when everyone around me wanted to go natural, when they saw that I didn’t have a TWA anymore. It’s kind of upsetting that woman of other cultures support me more than my own.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
